Coshocton Regional Medical Center hosted a free event on July 29 from 9 a.m. ton noon. Open to the public, the third annual community fun day presented an opportunity for residents to meet local first responders and tour their emergency vehicles.
The sheriff’s office presented a K-9 demo and there was a MedFlight landing planned, weather permitting, as well as free food, kid’s inflatables, a bounce house, and giveaways.
Kaylee Andrews, director of development and marketing at Coshocton Regional Medical Center, said, “We have events for the kids, inflatables, Bluey and Paw Patrol characters and all of our area first responders are here doing a touch a truck event. The Coshocton Sheriff’s Office, the fire department, Tri-County Ambulance, Coshocton County EMS and Value Care Ambulance are here. The kids can get aboard the vehicles, learn about them and meet the first responders in a non-threatening environment. It is very good for them to meet those individuals in a fun setting should they ever need emergency care. We have games and the first 100 kids got a free t-shirt. The snow cone truck is here giving out free snow cones and there is a lot of free food. Our Coshocton Public Health is here doing a free car seat inspection. If you don’t know whether your car seat is installed correctly or if it is outdated the team can assess that. If you are in need of a new car seat and you are eligible they can provide one for you free today. We are also doing some health screenings, blood pressure checks and glucose checks. They can talk to their healthcare providers if there are questions. It is a really good overall event with all of the medical teams in this area.”
Maryann Parker was with her grandson 7-year-old Creston Mills at the battle axe station. “This is our third year coming to this event,” she said. “He really enjoys the bounce houses and I like the positive image of a community fun day. The health checks are nice for people too.”
