Dale Wilbur Ames

Ames, DaleDale Wilbur Ames, 93, of Fresno passed away at 5:14 P.M., Sunday, March 24, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born July 27, 1919 in Coshocton County, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary Martha (Schlegel) Ames.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II from April 6, 1942 to December 10, 1945 as a Corporal Technician 5th Grade in the Medical Battalion, 222nd Hospital Ship Complement with overseas duty in the European-African Theater.

Dale was a lifetime dairy farmer retiring in 1979 and had been employed for nine years at the former General Electric Company.  He enjoyed hunting rabbit, squirrel and deer.

On October 30, 1948 he married Geraldine Adell Miller who survives also with a son Edward L. (Karen) Ames of Fresno; two step-grandsons Eric (Josie) Sellers of Newcomerstown, Nathen (Allison) Sellers of Cincinnati; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dale was the last sibling of five sisters Florence Funk, Nellie Bursey, Myrtle Johnston, Esther Conkle, Virginia Davis; four brothers Raymond, Clarence, Ralph and James Ames.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Free Funeral Home, Coshocton with Lloyd Tenney, Minister officiating.  Calling hours will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the funeral on Thursday.

Military honors will be conducted by the Coshocton County Veterans Council.
