David James Rogers
David James Rogers, age 70, of West Lafayette, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and community leader, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. He was born on August 16, 1953 in Cambridge, Ohio to the late James and Doris (Herbert) Rogers.
He was a 1971 graduate of River View High School and attended Muskingum Area Technical College (now Zane State).
Dave married Debra (Johnson) Rogers on January 5, 1974. At the age of 19, he joined the Ohio Air National Guard and achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and served his Country proudly for 24 years. He worked for Shaw Barton/JII for 31 years and Annin Flag Company for 16 years.
He was a member of the Coshocton Church of the Nazarene. He was also an active member of the West Lafayette Lions Club and West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. Dave volunteered as an EMT for Coshocton County from 1983 to 1996. He also served for 17 years on the West Lafayette Village Council. Together, he and his wife enjoyed traveling, having visited 49 of the 50 states and multiple countries. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a Dodge Challenger enthusiast, currently owning a 1973 similar to his first new car and a custom-ordered 2014 100th anniversary edition.
Along with his devoted wife Debbie of 50 years, Dave is survived by his two children, Stephanie (Brian) Hawkins of West Lafayette and John (April) Rogers of Maryland; three grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor and Taya Hawkins; two brothers, Paul (Katie) Rogers of Arizona and Tim (Chris Andrews) Rogers of Coshocton; and nieces and nephews, Brittany, Brian (Maisie, daughter Opal), Brianna, William and Emily. He also leaves behind his beloved sheltie dog, Kyle.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Operation Veterans Helping Veterans at 22291 Valley View Dr., West Lafayette, Ohio 43845.
