He was a big brother to Donald McCarty. Dave was a graduate of Coshocton High School Class of 1969. He was also baptized and confirmed into the Park United Methodist Church. He recited his favorite prayer, The Lord’s Prayer daily.
Dave married Shelley Weaver McCarty and raised their daughters, Laura Ann McCarty and Amber (Nate) Lovett. He became a grandfather to his four grandchildren Sammie and Larry Johnston, Sarah West and Lucas Lovett. Grand parenting was Dave’s most joyful role. He loved boating, fishing and swimming at the lake or Embassy Suites with his grands, who lovingly refer to him as Pap. He is also great grandfather to Damian and Emery. And he relished his relationship with Janet Miskimens, his aunt by marriage. Additionally, he was beloved Uncle Dave to his nieces and nephew.
Dave had a remarkable work ethic and began working early in life. He mowed lawns, shoveled walks and by the age of 14 he went to work for City Recreation coaching and umpiring Little League games. By the time he was 16, he had saved enough money to buy his first car, a Mercury Comet. Later that year he purchased the family color console tv. He went on to work after graduation for the City Street Department then the vending company. He gave 15 years to support his family to Clow Water System. He then worked eight years at RHDD caregiving for individuals with developmental delays. He then worked for Trans-Service as a dispatcher before returning to his passion of supporting individuals with developmental delays first at Hopewell Workshop then retiring from Hopewell School on his 70th birthday.
Dave wants to be remembered as a good man, husband, father, Pap and friend. He will always be remembered as fun, loving, kind, gentle, forgiving and talented. He studied art under Bob Ross and painted his way through life.
Dave is now reunited with his parents, grandparents Dewey and Carrie McCarty and Louis and Cleo Uher and his in-laws, John and Barbara Weaver.
