Deputies free driver from overturned vehicle
VIRGINIA TOWNSHIP – On Jan. 11, 2019 at 3:19 a.m. the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to an injury vehicle accident in the area of Township Road 483C and State Route 16 in Virginia Township. Dispatch was advised that the driver of the vehicle that was crashed was trapped inside of the vehicle, as the vehicle had overturned in a body of water.
Once deputies arrived on scene, Deputy Wallace and Deputy Garrett entered the water to try and free the driver from inside of the vehicle. After several minutes in the water, deputies were able to free the female driver from inside of the vehicle and get the driver to safety. Coshocton County EMS and Conesville Fire Department were on scene at this time to help aide the female and promptly begin medical treatment. The female driver was identified as Melissa Boyd from Licking County. Boyd was transported to Coshocton Regional Medical Center, where she was later flown by helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. The extent of Boyd’s injuries are unknown at this time. Alcohol and speed are suspected.
Assisting the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office on scene was the Coshocton County EMS, Conesville Fire Department, and Prince’s Wrecker Service.
This incident remains under investigation by your Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.
