Deputies respond to fatal crash

OXFORD TOWNSHIP – On Aug. 11, the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to an injury accident and deputies responded to the area of CR 151 and SR 751 in Oxford Twp to investigate.

Once on scene, it was determined that a pickup truck driven by Shawn E. Braniger, 35-years-old and from the West Lafayette area, was northbound on CR 151 when he drifted off the right side of the roadway and lost control coming back onto the road. He then went left of center, striking an embankment, trees and rolled over. Braniger died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the accident. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident.

Assisting deputies were Coshocton County EMS and West Lafayette Fire.

This incident remains under investigation by the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.
