COSHOCTON – Amber Shaw has always been a dog lover. When she was ready to reenter the work force after staying at home with her youngest child she decided to use her passion to start a new career.
Shaw opened Dogs By Design in September after becoming a certified pet groomer through a program offered by Penn Foster.
“I’ve always been the person that would rather play with the dog than talk to people,” she said. “I’ve liked meeting new dogs and have met breeds I’ve never seen before.”
The new business is located in her home at 1226 Fairy Falls Dr. She offers full grooming services, baths, and individual services such as nail clipping, face trim, teeth cleaning, and a one hour deshedding treatment.
“I’m geared toward smaller or medium dogs, but I will try bigger ones,” Shaw said.
A full groom includes a precut, bath, blow dry, finish cut, nails, ear cleaning and teeth brushing if the dog allows. A bath includes all the services, except the haircuts.
Shaw’s grooming business also carries dog toys, collars, clothing for dogs and some baked goods.
