Donald Cognion

COSHOCTON – Donald “Don” W. Cognion, 76, of Coshocton passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at his home.  He was born in Coshocton on July 2, 1941 to the late Walter and Flora (Fouts) Cognion.

Don was a graduate of Plainfield High School and worked for General Electric for 38 years before retiring.  He loved bowling, trap shooting, deer hunting, square dancing, farming, and in his later years he loved to ride his scooter with his two brothers.  He welcomed everyone and treated them as family. He was a devoted family man and was never too busy to help anyone.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Ankrum) Cognion; five children Kirk Cognion of Fresno, Kimberly (Jeff) Michael of Coshocton, Mark Cognion of Newark, Scott (Angie) Cognion of Coshocton, and Darin (Kathryn) Cognion of Newark; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers Leonard and Bill Cognion; and sisters Viola Grewell and Ann Otterstedt.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his grandson Adam Michael; sister Dorothy Johnson; sister-in-law Darlene Cognion; and brother-in-law James Grewell.

Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Sunday December 10, 2017 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm and one hour prior to the funeral service.  Funeral services for Don will be Monday at 11:00am with Pastor Mark Granger officiating.
