Donald ‘Don’ Carpenter
Donald “Don” Carpenter, 71, of Coshocton passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. He was born in Coshocton, Ohio on July 4, 1949 to the late Jack and Marie (Bear) Carpenter.
Don was a graduate of Ridgewood High School, following high school he was drafted to the United States Army during Vietnam. After serving during the war, he came home and later re-enlisted into the Army National Guard until he retired in 1996. He also worked full time for Dawson Ambulance service; he was one of the first licensed EMT’s for Coshocton County. He also worked for Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, Coshocton City Fire, Walhonding Valley Fire District, EMS and MedFlight before retiring. During retirement he served as the vice chairman for the Local Emergency Planning Committee. He also loved to travel with his wife; his favorite place was Hawaii. Don is also a member of the First Baptist Church, Coshocton Elks Lodge and AMVETS.
Don is survived by his wife, Donna (Jaeger) Carpenter, who he married July 2, 2002; children Jon (Heather) McMasters of Coshocton, Rob (Raychel) McMasters of Coshocton, and April Wilson of PA; grandchildren Kennedy, Kynsingten, and Colin; and siblings Richard (Linda) Carpenter and Michelle Carpenter.
Per Don’s wishes a cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held Thursday January 21, 2021 at the Coshocton Christian Tabernacle, 23891 Airport Rd, Coshocton, OH 43812 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm and 5:00pm – 7:00pm with a funeral service beginning at 7:00pm with Pastor Joe Sanders officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be directed towards the Coshocton County Veterans Council; envelopes will be available at the church.
