Donald Leon Layton
COSHOCTON- Donald Leon Layton, 81, of South Lawn Ave., died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Coshocton Co. Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 19, 1931 in Dresden to the late Ruth E. Layton. He served in the Ohio National Guard from 1949-1955. He was a retired Coshocton Co. Sheriff’s Deputy with 35 years of service time. He was also a former employee of Jones Metal and Buehler’s. He was a life-member of the AmVets Post #36, the Coshocton American Legion, and Coshocton Eagles Aerie #761. He loved to shoot pool every week.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carrie F. (Parks) Layton of Coshocton, a son, Michael (Janie) Layton of West Lafayette, a daughter, Debbie Chambers of Coshocton, three grandchildren; Jennifer Chambers of Cincinnati, Tiffany Layton of Zanesville, and Courtney Layton of West Lafayette, two great-grandchildren; Owen Siegel and Emma Iori, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 31, 2013 at the Coshocton Church of Christ, 1800 Chestnut St., with Pastor Lloyd Tenney officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council.
Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, and also one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday.
