Donations help repair scout camp pool

| May 26, 2023

The Coshocton Foundation and the Janet Jones Mulligan Aquatic Fund came through in a big way for the Boy Scouts in the Muskingum Valley Council with a $7,000 donation to repair and refill the MVSR Camp Pool.

This summer over 500 youth and adults in scouting will be in attendance at Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation, known as MVSR. The pool is used during summer camp for teaching swimming and lifesaving merit badges, instruction swimming classes, and lifeguard certifications.

The donation was used to repair a crack in the foundation of the pool. Repairing the pool ensures that high quality safety measures are met. In order to begin this repair, the pool had to be drained. This resulted in needing 137,800 gallons of water to be hauled in over 26 trips.

The Muskingum Valley Council is a local chapter of the Boy Scouts of America. The MVC BSA units are located in east central and southeastern Ohio, and north West Virginia. They have units in Coshocton, Guernsey, Knox, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Tuscarawas Counties, and Pleasants County, WV.
