Driver jumps in river after traffic stop
On Feb. 2, 2022 at approximately 5:19 p.m. officer’s made a traffic stop on a vehicle at SR.16 just east of CR.6 in Jackson TWP. Once the vehicle stopped, both the driver and passenger fled from the vehicle.
Justin Saucier (31) of Newcomerstown was the driver of the vehicle and ran across SR.16 to the river. Saucier then jumped into the river and swam across to the other side at South Second Street and Browns Lane. Deputies were waiting on the other side and took Saucier into custody. Saucier had felony warrants out of Tuscarawas County. Saucier was transported by the Coshocton County Squad to Coshocton Regional Medical Center.
The passenger has not been located. This incident remains under investigation by the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.
Assisting the sheriff’s office at the scene was Coshocton County EMS and Coshocton Sheriff’s K-9 units.
