Eagle Ridge Disc Golf Course offering free clinic

| October 7, 2023

Eagle Ridge Disc Golf Course, which is located at the former Hilltop Golf Course across from Lake Park, is offering a free clinic, sponsored by Auer Ace Hardware, on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 1-3 p.m. The disc golf course is owned by Lake Park and run by volunteers.

According to Lainie Brillhart, “This clinic is targeted more toward newer players, however all skill levels are welcome. We will cover all things at a high level, including backhand, forehand, putting and building your bag.”

Brad Schick is a back to back US Masters Champion. Schick has 187 PDGA wins and ranked number 15 in the Global Master Series. He lives in Columbus and will be doing the clinic for free to help grow the sport in Coshocton. The only charge for the clinic is if you would like to buy a beginner set of discs for $15.  The set includes an approach and putt, midrange and fairway driver.

Eagle Ridge Disc Golf Course is three months old. It was built by volunteers and funded by gifts from the Coshocton Foundation, Montgomery Foundation, Schooler Foundation, McWane Ductile, Wooly Pig, Keim Lumber, Hershberger Lawn Structures and private donations. The course is free to use and is open to the public from 8 a.m. to dark every day. “The land offers terrific views and challenging play at every skill level. With a variety of obstacles, terrain, and elevation changes, this course will be at the top of your most fun courses to play,” Brillhart said.

Registration can be done the day of the clinic, but space is limited to 50 participants. Call 740-502-3165 to register or for more information. Spectators are welcome to come and learn about disc golf. You can also join the group’s Facebook for more information.
