Edmund R. Hillegass Sr.

Edmund Ray Hillegass, Sr., 94, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021 at the Country Club Nursing Home.

He was born Jan. 18, 1926 in Manns Choice, PA to the late Guy and Nora (Wertz) Hillegass. He married Wilda Jean (Bracken) Hillegass on Feb. 22, 1947, who followed him in death just days later on Jan. 19, 2021.

Ed served his country in the U.S. Naval Service Coast Guard from 1943 to 1945, and the Army National Guard from 1950 to 1952. He was a longtime member of the Warsaw Lions Club, and he enjoyed woodworking, hunting & fishing.

He is survived by three sons, Edmund Ray Hillegass, Jr. and wife Karen, Larry Guy Hillegass and wife Kim, and Mark Allen Hillegass, Sr. and wife Dawn; a son-in-law, Richard Poland; his grandchildren, Eddie III, Danny, Tammy, Cheri, Brian, Jon Jr., Linda, Johnny, Charlotte, Courtney, Tracy, Lisa, and Mark Jr.; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jon Hillegass, Sr.; a daughter, Janice Poland; a grandson, Larry Hillegass, Jr.; two brothers, Homer and Alfred Hillegass; and a sister, Hilda Wilson.

A graveside service for Edmund R. Hillegass, Sr. & Wilda J. Hillegass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2021 at Tiverton Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Gibson officiating. Military rites for Edmund will be performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard. The family asks that for the safety of loved ones, masks are required for those in attendance.
