Edward L. Young charged with wife’s murder

On Jan. 4, at around 5:42 p.m. deputies along with Coshocton County EMS were dispatched to 23877 Hutchison Avenue in regards to a shooting. While deputies were responding to the scene they were advised the suspect left the scene in a silver Honda Civic. Deputies then saw a vehicle matching the description and a pursuit was then initiated on CR 621 in the Canal Lewisville area. This pursuit then continued southbound on CR 621 toward the intersection of US 36. This vehicle then crashed in the intersection of US 36 and CR 621. A male suspect was then taken into custody.
Other deputies arrived on scene of the shooting and found a female subject to be laying in the yard in front of the house and a male subject who appeared to be deceased laying on the floor inside the house. Once the scene was secure by deputies the female subject was taken by Coshocton County EMS to the Coshocton Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased. Both the male subject and female subject appeared to have been shot multiple times.
No names are being released at this time. This double homicide is an ongoing investigation and names of the victims and the suspect will be released at a later time.
Assisting deputies at the scene of the homicides were Coshocton County EMS, Coshocton County Prosecutors Office, Coshocton K9 units, Children Services and Coshocton County Coroners Office. Also assisting deputies at the scene of the accident were Coshocton County EMS, Ohio State Patrol and Princes Wrecker Service.
On Jan. 5, 42 year old Edward L. Young of Coshocton was formally charged with the murder of 26 year old Joshua Allen Jones of Coshocton. The Coshocton County Prosecutors office is also looking into additional charges related to this event. The cause of the murders appear to be the result of a domestic type situation that took place at 23877 Hutchinson Avenue, Coshocton. Five juveniles were present at the residence during this incident.
After the alleged shooting took place, Edward L. Young left the scene of the crime in a silver four door Honda Accord. A short time later deputies got into a pursuit with this vehicle and Edward L. Young then crashed. It was then learned four children were in the vehicle with Edward Young and no injuries occurred.
This event is still an ongoing investigation being conducted by Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, Coshocton County Prosecutors Office and BCI.
