Body found in river identified

COSHOCTON – On Nov. 15, at 9:26 p.m. the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to an elderly man having no recent contact with his family.  Deputies were dispatched to his home in the 800 block of South Second Street to check on his well-being. He was soon located in the river directly behind his residence and fire and EMS responded to the scene. The elderly man, Larry C. Gingrich, 83-years-old and from the Coshocton area, who was found deceased, was recovered from the water and transported to Licking County Coroner’s Office.

On Nov. 16, after an initial investigation by the coroner’s office and the sheriff’s office, foul play is not suspected in his death, however, the official cause of death is still under investigation.

Assisting the sheriff’s office at the scene were Coshocton City Fire, Coshocton County EMS, Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office, BCI, Licking County Coroner’s Office and the Coshocton County Coroner’s Office.

This investigation remains ongoing by your Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.
