Electronic and shredding recycle day planned
Coshocton County Recycling and Litter Prevention and CES Credit Union are excited to announce plans for an electronic and shredding day to be held Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds. Enter through the main gate and follow the signs.
Document shredding will be accepted until the truck is full and this is for personal use only. No businesses will be accepted. Two file size boxes per vehicle will be allowed. Please be sure to remove all clips and binders from the paper.
Several types of electronics will be accepted for recycling. Computers, laptops, printers, cables, keyboards, microwaves, VHS/DVD players and cell phones will be accepted at no cost. Computer monitors are $5.00 each and TVs are $1.00 per diagonal inch.
Alex Nelson, program director of the recycling office, said her office receives many calls about shredding and electronic recycling. “It is so important that our community has a way to safely get rid of their e-waste and their personal documents. Unfortunately, many people choose littering as a way to get rid of their electronics.” Nelson shared that the county litter supervisor is constantly finding TVs and other electronics along rural roads.
Nelson said, “A day like this has been on my radar for a couple of years, now, and was in the works when CES Credit Union reached out to collaborate and sponsor a shred day – everything just fell into place. Having an electronics recycling company, T.D.R. LLC, come here is something that I am really excited to see. A lot of community members want to do the right thing – they want to recycle – and I’m hoping this event facilitates that.”
James McLaughlin, CES Credit Union marketing director, said they are very proud to cooperate with Coshocton County Litter and Recycling for the event. “We understand the importance of making sure sensitive documents and devices containing personal and financial information are disposed of properly to avoid identity theft and fraud,” he said. “This one act of prevention can literally save hours of calls to recover funds or clean up an issue.”
CES Coshocton Manager Karen Wright shared the credit union is committed to making a positive impact in the community. “By sponsoring this event, CES not only meets a personal need for many to safely destroy sensitive statements and documents, but also our county residents benefit from easy access to the recycling channels,” she said.
