Enjoy a Playground of Talent
Fight those dreary winter doldrums with an explosion of color made by local elementary and high school artists. Come to the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum on Sunday, March 17 for a special opening from 1-3 p.m. Admission during this time will be free.
The elementary artwork is produced by students in kindergarten through sixth grade who attend elementary in Coshocton’s city and county schools as well as those who are home schooled. Works are chosen by the students’ art teachers for their creativity and excellence. Through the various media of art such as acrylic, collage, crayon, and much more, let your spirits rise as you view this very colorful and exceptional exhibit. From all kinds of animals to fantasy creatures, self-portraits and landscapes, the viewer will enjoy how children interpret the world through the eyes of innocence and whimsy.
The high school portion features fresh, vibrant artwork by young artists from area high schools including Ridgewood, Coshocton, River View, and the Coshocton Opportunity School. Works will be chosen for their outstanding quality by high school art instructors and encompass a variety of media, ranging from watercolor, acrylic, digital art, and three-dimensional art, to other media as well. The teen entrants will be judged by a panel of local artists. The categories are two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and digital art.
A Playground of Talent is sponsored by The Schooler Family fund and The Ohio Arts Council with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans. The museum is open Friday – Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. and Tuesday – Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. beginning Friday, March 1. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for children, and $15 for families. The museum offers free admission for Coshocton County residents every Sunday.
