Farm bureau leaves lasting memory of 100th anniversary

COSHOCTON – The Ohio Farm Bureau is celebrating its 100th anniversary by leaving its mark on barns in different locations in Ohio, including Coshocton County.
Scott Hagan, who is known as the barn artist, spent May 21 at the fairgrounds painting the Ohio Farm Bureau centennial logo on the agricultural hall.
“We want to get our name out there and let people know we exist,” said Kayla Jones, Coshocton County Farm Bureau Organization Director. “We are 100 years strong and look forward to the next 100 years. We are not going anywhere.”
Hagan was picked for the project because of previous work he’s done for the farm bureau.
“He is a farm bureau member and does a fantastic job,” Jones said. “He did all the bicentennial barns in Ohio. He was the obvious choice for us.”
Hagan enjoyed traveling around Ohio and painting its bicentennial logo on barns and is looking forward to this new anniversary project.

“It’s pretty cool to go back to places I’ve painted barns before and get to rekindle relationships,” he said.
The Ohio Farm Bureau logo he painted on the agriculture hall is 10 feet and took him from late morning to early evening to complete.
“This building is metal so it’s a little harder to work around, but the results are real nice and lasting,” Hagan said.
The agriculture hall faces Seventh Street and can be easily seen by people who pass by.
“We asked the fairgrounds for permission to do this because it’s a great location,” Jones said. “We have a lot of dual members so it was an easy conversation. We don’t have a specific event planned to celebrate the painting, but we will highlight it during the fair.”
