Fire department receiving grass fire/wildfire reports

| August 17, 2015

COSHOCTON – Over the last few days, the Coshocton Fire Department has received reports of grass fires/wildfires that would appear to have been ignited by discarded cigarettes from motor vehicles.

As we are well into the “dog days” of summer, the grass is extremely dry and does not need much to ignite. Wildfires threaten and cause damage to homes, private property, trees and landscapes, but more importantly, lives are placed at risk.

Please dispose of your smoking material in a responsible manner.
