Fireworks to be at Coshocton Airport Amphitheater this year

| June 25, 2015

COSHOCTON – This year, the July 4th fireworks will be booming in the skies over the Coshocton Airport Amphitheater.

“As we, the Coshocton Airport Amphitheater, are making the effort to raise funds and coordinate the activities, we wanted to use this opportunity to promote the Amphitheater and give the residents of our county an opportunity to come visit our facility,” said Shane Pyle, airport amphitheater board member. “After discussions with the pyrotechnics crew, we felt the airport grounds will provide an unparalleled viewing experience, far superior than the fairgrounds. Our main reason was to encourage visitors to the amphitheater and promote our site.”

The fun will start at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, with a concert by the Coshocton Community Band and then the featured group, Parrots of the Caribbean, a Jimmy Buffett cover band, will take the stage at 7 p.m. Vendors will be on site providing food and beverages, and there is plenty of parking in the grassy areas to the north and south of the amphitheater.

“This band should appeal to a wide range of people,” Pyle said. “We also will have vendors here selling food and other things. It will be a picnic, family togetherness kind of evening.”

The fireworks will then start after sunset around 9:30 p.m.

“We’ve increased the size of the fireworks by 50 percent,” Pyle said. “They are going to be bigger and longer than last year. It will be a really good show.”

The event is free to the public, but buckets will be circulated around for contributions to the amphitheater, the Wounded Warrior Project and the veterans Honor Flight.

“We are tremendously thankful for everyone’s confidence in us for our first attempt to do a fireworks display,” Pyle said. “We also are thankful that they see the need to provide this type of patriotic celebration in our community and support our veterans at the same time. We are expecting a good crowd. Seats will be first come first serve for the fireworks. The best ones are going to be on the airport tarmac. The fireworks will be done on the airport grounds so you will have a dead straight view and the ground fireworks will have no obstructions whatsoever. You’ll also be able to see them clear around the county, but we encourage people to come to the airport to get a really good view.”

Sponsors of the fireworks are: Auer Ace Hardware, Buckeye Brine, City of Coshocton, Coshocton Rotary Club, Coshocton Beacon, Coshocton Yard Restaurant, Echoing Hills Village, Jacobs Vanaman Agency, Kids America, McWane Ductile, MFM Building Products, Marilyn’s Natural Foods, Raymond James Financial Services, Stanley Technologies, Sutton Construction, WenMar Farms, Lity’s Scrapyard, WTNS Radio, WTUZ Radio, Papa John’s Pizza, RockTenn, SanCasT, Dr. Jerald Myers, Marion Sutton, David Wickham, Dixie Fishbaugh, Larry and Nancy Bryan, Steve and Sharon Mercer, William and Mary Timmons, Nancy Lapp, and M&T Williams.
