Florence M. “Tootie” Brandel

Florence M. “Tootie” Brandel, 92, of Coshocton passed away on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021 at Windsorwood Place in Coshocton with her family by her side.

Florence was born in Cambridge, Ohio on Dec. 13, 1928 to the late William C. and Lily A. (Lake) Longsworth. She graduated from Cambridge High School and retired from Coshocton City Schools after 28 years as a secretary.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. Florence was also a past member of the YWCA, Coshocton Historical Society, Coshocton Community Choir, Wise Wives Club and Child Study Club.

Florence is survived by her children, Ric Brandel of Columbus, Karin (Michael) Gorius of Heath, Linnet (Gary) Lowe of Coshocton, Beverly (John) Tatro of Galion and Bruce (Emily) Brandel of Cedar Park, TX; one sister, Ruth Calvert of Cambridge; six grandchildren, Amanda (Rusty) Stickdorn, Jamie (Tom) Fay, Josh (Hannah) Tatro, Sarah Tatro, Katelyn Gorius and Lane (Shaun) Pickering; great-grandchildren, JoJo and Avery Stickdorn, Chaz and Chase Bradford, Destiny Taylor, Eleanor and David Pickering; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Clary of Coshocton and Marsha Longsworth of Cambridge, OH; brother-in-law Jim Brandel of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Brandel whom she married June 14, 1953; Richard passed away on Jan. 27, 2006; two brothers, Thomas Longsworth and Todd Salters; and sister, Dolly Bradford.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at Grace United Methodist Church.
