Free health workshop open to public

NEWARK – Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and The Ohio State University at Newark will host a workshop, “What Everyone Needs to Know to Maintain a Healthy Heart,” from 11:30 am to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the John Gilbert Reese Center, rooms F & G. The workshop is free and open to the public. See below for RSVP information.

The session will be facilitated Scott Maffett, MD, cardiologist and assistant professor of clinical medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Dr. Maffett specializes in cardiovascular imaging as well as inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular consultation.  He is the associate cardiovascular medicine fellowship director and the assistant division director of clinical affairs in cardiovascular medicine. Dr.  Maffett’s office is located in Gahanna and he also practices at Ohio State’s Ross Heart Hospital.     

February is American Heart Month. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, killing more than 600,000 Americans every year, more than cancer, lower respiratory diseases and accidents. This workshop will address heart health and common cardiology topics such as heart attacks, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, heart disease and prevention.  Please take advantage of this exceptional opportunity to ask directly a renowned cardiologist questions about heart health.
