Genesis HealthCare System postpones some procedures

| September 3, 2021

Due to the increased prevalence of COVID-19 in the area, Genesis HealthCare System is postponing some surgical procedures that can be safely delayed. Surgeries that are not critical but require an overnight stay in the hospital are being postponed.

Genesis will continue to perform all essential surgical procedures that address saving a patient’s life; preserving function of organ or limb; reducing metastasis or progression of a disease; or reducing severe symptoms. Surgeons’ office staff will contact patients to reschedule procedures.

This postponement enables Genesis to have beds are available in the Critical Care Unit and other nursing units for the recent high influx of COVID-19 patients.
