Giant corn maze opens at Colonial Campground

| September 16, 2015

COSHOCTON – A giant corn maze is opening in Coshocton County on Friday, Sept. 18 at Colonial Campground and will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 7.  Ryan and Camille McPeek, owners at Colonial Campground, recently teamed up with Maize Quest Fun Park to bring this corn maze experience to the area.

“This is a large, four acre corn maze with a dinosaur theme designed by maze-master designer, Dave Phillips from Maize Quest,” said Ryan. “It was exciting to see it all go from drawings on paper to the corn field.”

Ryan said they wanted to create a family friendly atmosphere at the corn maze and campground area, so it’s not a spooky, scary experience.

“Along with the corn maze, we have hay rides, pumpkins, fun games, campfires, Whit’s Custard, hot foods, flashlight nights, and more to make this a perfect fall family activity,” Ryan said. “This is also a perfect outing for scouts, youth groups, birthday parties, school groups, and family gatherings.”

They are even prepared for young children with the addition of a mini maze where kids won’t get lost, complete with a fun game to play while completing the kid’s maze.

“Within the larger maze we have other games for participants to play along the journey such as Kernel B. Cobb’s Word Game where you find the nine story boards in the maze to answer dinosaur questions or Cornelius Quest’s Picture Find where participants find all nine dinosaurs in the maze to complete the challenge,” Ryan said.

McPeek’s Mighty Maze will be open Fridays from 1 to 10 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sundays from 1 to 7 p.m. from Sept. 18 through Nov. 7.

“We also decided to be open on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 5-6 since local youth will be out of school for the Coshocton County Fair,” Ryan said.

“We know we can’t do it alone so during your visit you’ll encounter smiling faces to help you get the most out being lost. Our staff is hard working and enjoys the maze experience as much as you will.”

Admission is $8 per person ages three and up, which also includes a hay ride to the corn maze. Coupons are available on their Facebook page or on their website www.mcpeeksmightymaze.com. Group discounts are also available for groups of 20 or more.

“We also have camp and corn packages with our Colonial Campground to make an excellent fall family weekend,” Ryan said. “There’s no minimum number of people to get the camper rate, just rent a campsite for the weekend and get a discounted maze pass.”

McPeek’s Mighty Maze is located at Colonial Campground, 24688 County Road 10 in Coshocton. For information about the corn maze or Colonial Campground, contact McPeek at 740-502-9245.
