Give the gift of food this holiday season: Local Bounty Update

| December 12, 2013

Good blustery morning Local Bounty Shoppers: We had an incredibly busy market week last week/weekend. We hope you enjoyed everything you picked up. Here’s some updates from our vendors this cold wintery morning…

Give the Gift of Food

The gift of food is the perfect gift. We have gift cards available and will happily load them up with however much you’d like to “gift” someone. Co-workers, card club members, teachers, coaches…whoever is on your list will definitely put a gift card to good use!

Martin Zelones Memorial Fund

For those of you who haven’t heard or read, we lost a member of our Local Bounty family on Thanksgiving. Martin Zelones of Windy Hill Berry Farm passed away. Terese has set up a memorial/funeral fund at Ohio Heritage Bank for those of you who would like to contribute. She also said a memorial service will be held after the first of the year.

Hall – RB – Hill
This week has been cold up on the hill, perfect baking weather!! I will have Italian bread in loaves and rolls, look for cracked pepper focaccia on Friday! I will also be making some old fashioned gingerbread cookies. Check out my muffin crayons, made from up-cycled crayons! Have a great day from Hall-RB-Hill!

Keene Creek Farm

Friday afternoon some of our pork will be back in stock (brats, bulk sausage, etc.). The smoked meats (bacon, ham loaf, smoked loin chops, etc.) will take another week or so as they need to hang in that wood-fired smokehouse our processor uses. Mmmm. Last week we took in a few bags of pine cones for your holiday decorating. They were collected from our farm and have been spritzed with an apple cinnamon scented oil. Marissa has also added some of our handcrafted items to the Christmas table. Toddler tots, pin cushions, vintage button paperclips, coasters, etc. They all make great gifts (from Santa or you!).

Mill Creek Homestead

Are you done Christmas shopping yet? If not, stop by and grab a gift box filled with soap that is sure to please. The Rosemary Mint box was a popular one and is now sold out at Local Bounty, but you can still pick up a lavender box. It has a bar of lavender soap, lavender whipped shea butter, and a lavender room and linen spray. Many other sizes and scents of boxes are also available.

Mullet Apiaries
Mullet Apiaries will have gift packages available at the store today. Stop in and get one for your neighbors and friends! Keep warm out there and be safe as you do your holiday shopping.

Strawberry Hill Farm

Brrr! Winter cold is hitting early this year. The kale in the garden is just sitting there now and not growing, so we won’t have any to bring into the store this week. (Maybe if temperatures rise next week!) Mary will bring more freshly-baked holiday shortbread late Thursday afternoon, plus a few dozen free-range eggs. The hens are slowing down these days, too.

Sunnybrook Acres
Good morning all! We will be bringing gift bags in today of our body care products. Included in some of the sets are soap cupcakes, body scrubs and body butter. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Thousand Hill Acres
We have partially restocked our freezer. We added sliced ham, more Hot Italian Sausages, more Mild Italian Sausage, and more of our salt pepper and sage sausage. As always, our products are 100 percent pasture raised and fed non genetically engineered feed (Non-GMO).

Stay warm today and thanks for your support.
