Harold Dean Rehard

Harold Dean Rehard, 87, passed away on May 21, 2022, at his home in San Diego, California. He was born on Feb. 19, 1935 in Isleta, Ohio to the late Oscar and Mary (Loos) Rehard.

On March 16, 1974, he married, Mildred Louise (Dickinson) Rehard, and together they celebrated 42 years of marriage before her passing in 2016. Dean was a proud member of the US Navy for for years and was a war time veteran of the Korean War. After a short break from the Navy, he returned to civil service with the Department of Defense where he retired in 1990. In retirement, Dean continued other business pursuits, including real estate ventures, stock market trading, trips to Alaska, memberships in the Elks and Kentucky Colonels. Also, he was a proud Ohio University softball alumni parent, a super fan of The Ohio State Buckeye football team, and the Cleveland Indians and San Diego Padres baseball teams.

Dean is survived by his daughter, Kandi Rehard, of San Diego, California; great-grandchildren, Isabella and John Dean Cole; siblings, Barbara Dedics of Ocala, Florida, and Patty Lahna of Coshocton, Ohio; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins in California, Ohio, Florida, Arkansas and Missouri.

Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother, Chudleigh Rehard and sister, Carolyn Beagle.

A graveside service will be held at Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at Schumaker Farms, also in West Lafayette.
