Hazardous materials plan exercise announced

| June 5, 2018

COSHOCTON – The Coshocton County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will be conducting an exercise of the Coshocton County Hazardous Materials Plan on Thursday, June 7.

The exercise will take place at Three Rivers Energy on County Road 271. Local fire departments, Coshocton County EMS, Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office and other response agencies will be participating in the exercise. Participating agencies will stage near the exercise location prior to the start.

Ohio law (ORC 3750) requires local communities to annually exercise their plan. Conducting exercises gives personnel an opportunity to practice hands-on with equipment and to effectively implement their procedures. Agencies can identify where additional training is needed or what additional resources may be required. Additionally, exercises give various agencies the chance to interact and learn more about their respective roles in chemical incidents.
