Historic photos of Roscoe Village on display at museum

Step into a journey through time and witness the remarkable transformation of Roscoe Village, captured through historic photographs from the late 1800s and early 1900s alongside vivid portrayals of its 1970s restoration. Tucked away in the heart of Ohio’s picturesque countryside, Roscoe Village stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of preservation and revitalization.

From July until Dec. 31, visitors to the Johnson–Humrickhouse Museum will be transported back to an era of horse-drawn carriages and bustling canal commerce and can glimpse into the everyday lives of Roscoe’s inhabitants, from merchants and craftsmen to families and travelers. As the photographs weave a narrative of bygone days, images capturing the monumental efforts undertaken in the 1970s to breathe new life into Roscoe Village are juxtaposed next to them. Witness the dedication and passion of the community as they embarked on a journey to restore the faded grandeur of this historic gem. From dilapidated buildings to revitalized storefronts, each image tells a story of renewal and resilience, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into preserving Roscoe’s architectural heritage.

Historic Photos of Roscoe Village is presented in collaboration with Roscoe Village and is sponsored by the Roscoe Village Foundation, the Roscoe Village Business Association, and the Johnson–Humrickhouse Museum Foundation. Prints of the photos on display will be available for purchase during the show. The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is located in Historic Roscoe Village at 300 N. Whitewoman St. in Coshocton. Museum hours are noon to 4 p.m. daily.
