Historic Roscoe Village Christmas Candlelightings set
As the holidays draw near, the cozy village of Roscoe invites you to visit Saturday, Dec. 2 or 9 for the 52nd year of spreading Christmas cheer with the 2023 Christmas Candlelighting Ceremony.
Gather around the base of the magical Christmas tree for an inspirational Christmas story from the honorary storyteller. After the story the choir will lead everyone in the singing of “Silent Night” while the honorary candle lighter will start passing the flame to light everyone’s candles. The ceremony will start at 6 p.m. and last around an hour.
Come early and spend the day enjoying a variety of family-friendly holiday activities. Enjoy the self-guided living history tour, do some Christmas shopping in all the stores in the village, and even grab dinner before or after the ceremony. Free hot mulled cider and delicious festive cookies will be offered before and after the ceremony.
If you are looking for some more Christmas history, join Historic Roscoe Village on a guided tour as you rewind the clock and discover the origins of some favorite seasonal celebrations through A Roscoe Christmas Tour. Visit the pantry of the Johnson home and hear of all the delicious recipes enjoyed around the dinner table. Venture just up the stairs to the family’s parlor and see all their beautiful decorations and explore the beginnings of Christmas trees, stockings, Yule logs and more. In the one-room schoolhouse listen to the list of a child’s simple holiday wish. To purchase tickets for this tour, visit www.roscoevillage.com or for more information call 740-622-7644.
