Holmes County Flea Market to host second annual Christmas In July for Operation Christmas Child
HOLMES COUNTY – The Christmas spirit will be hot this summer for “Christmas in July” at the Holmes County Flea Market on Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The market is located just east of Berlin.
The Ohio East Team of Operation Christmas Child will provide shoeboxes that day for those who want to purchase items from vendors to fill them. It’s an easy way to mark one thing off that Christmas to-do list before the holidays even begin.
Donors also may bring a packed shoebox with $7 included for the shipping.
For each gift-filled shoebox you donate or each $7 you contribute for shipping, you will receive one ticket for giveaways to be drawn hourly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. You need not be present for the actual drawing to win.
Informational materials (including DVD’s) about Operation Christmas Child will be available.
Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has collected and delivered more than 124 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in over 150 countries through Operation Christmas Child.
In 2014, 21,958 shoebox gifts were packed and donated during National Collection Week in the Ohio East Area. Samaritan’s Purse collected enough shoebox gifts last year to reach over 10 million children through the Operation Christmas Child project. More than 500,000 volunteers worldwide, with 140,000 of those in the United States, are involved in collecting, shipping, and distributing shoebox gifts. Individuals, families, churches, and groups can fill empty shoeboxes with gifts of toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and notes of encouragement.
