Home burglarized; Shots fired

COSHOCTON – On Feb. 17, 2019 at approximately 11:12 a.m., the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a home being burglarized in the 14000 block of SR 16 in Coshocton County.  The suspects had fled the scene prior to deputies arriving.  The homeowner reported several items being stolen from his residence.

At approximately 2:07 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a possible shooting at this same location.

After the initial investigation, it appears the armed homeowner confronted two adult male suspects at his residence in the 14000 block of SR 16. As a result of this confrontation, one male suspect was transported from the scene to Genesis Hospital by Coshocton County EMS for a single gunshot wound. At the time of this release his condition was unknown.

In reference to the earlier burglary, two adults, one male and one female, remain in custody at the Coshocton County Justice Center.

Late in the evening of Feb. 19, 2019, a search warrant was executed on a vehicle in Coshocton where several stolen items from this burglary were recovered.

On Feb. 20, 2019, Samantha A. Morales, 32 years old and from the Coshocton area, and Ross V. Long, 35 years old and also from the Coshocton area, were both charged with burglary, a felony of the third degree. Additional charges are anticipated upon review of the county prosecutor.

The Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office is assisting the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office with this very active and on-going investigation.
