Huge Easter Egg Hunt planned by The River Church

| March 31, 2023

The River Church Coshocton is hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds again this year on Saturday, April 8.

“Last year was our biggest year,” said Pastor Edie Weber. “Previously the biggest turnout was about 350. It’s always been a successful thing in the community but last year it was like more than double. It’s great just to see everyone have a good time.”

They have an amazing team at the church that makes events happen.

“We just flow with the Holy Ghost,” Weber said. “It just comes together, allows us to bless the community and preach the Gospel. It wasn’t overwhelming at all. It’s incredible when we have a big crowd show up. Now we are prepared for that large number of people. Last year it was almost the double of the maximum amount of people we thought would be there, but we had 5,000 eggs. Now we are really prepared for double the amount. This year we have 10,000 eggs. That’s exciting. It is the largest egg hunt around. New this year will be a special needs section for kids that can’t keep up with some of the older kids.”

A unique thing that happened last year was a man came with his grandkids who had a horse-riding business and gave some free passes to ride to give out. “One of the kids that got a pass said he loved horses and wanted to ride so it was the perfect gift for him,” Weber said. “Other people wanted to give as well and that was a huge blessing. To me it felt like people in the community saw how awesome it was and they wanted to be part of it. Someone donated a laptop and the girl that got it was just starting high school, so she needed a laptop. Last year it rained, and the ballgames were canceled but it didn’t stop the Easter Egg Hunt. The sun came out. It is just so cool like that. God always comes through.”

Mark your calendar for the River Church Easter Egg Hunt at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 8. There will be 10,000 eggs filled with treats and surprises hidden at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds. The hunts will be divided into four groups for ages, 1-2 parents may accompany, 3-5, 6-12 years and 3-12 special needs, parents may accompany. Each age group will have their own designated area, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. Included in the day’s activities will be giveaways, prizes and a message from Pastor Zach sharing the true meaning of Easter.
