Hundreds attend pool party
COSHOCTON – The slides were a popular attraction at the family pool party held Aug. 12 at Lake Park Aquatic Center.
More than 350 people attended the event hosted by the Coshocton County Fatherhood Initiative, Coshocton County Family and Children First and Thompkin’s Treatment Inc.
“It’s a celebration honoring kids for a good summer and dads for interacting with their children,” said William Johnson from the Coshocton County Fatherhood Initiative.
Papa John’s gave away a certificate for a free medium pizza to dads who came with their families and dads who were caught interacting with their children also had the chance to win door prizes donated by Wal-Mart and Circle K.
“I enjoy seeing the fathers interact with their families and in the water playing with their kids,” Johnson said.
Admission to the party was only $1 and that also got individuals a bag of popcorn, a hot dog and a bottle of water.
The next big project being planned by the fatherhood initiative is the Saturday, Oct. 17 all county breakfast at Coshocton High School in the auditorium. For $5, dads and their kids will be treated to breakfast, fun and games, a presentation by Cie Grant who played on The Ohio State University 2002 National Championship Team and the chance to get his autograph. Johnson said ticket information will be released in the near future.
“Last year we had Craig Krenzel and 500 people attend the event held at River View High School,” Johnson said. “This year our goal is to have 700 attend.”
