James “Gene” Roahrig

James E. “Gene” Roahrig, age 91, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Coshocton Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 10, 1927 to the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Trenor) Roahrig in Coshocton. On May 28, 1955 he married Dorcas Ann (Hall) Roahrig, who passed away in May of 2018. He is a United States Navy veteran having served in two tours, WWII and Korean War on the USS Shangri-La. He retired from Ohio Power after 43 years. Gene was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Catholic high school and a long time member of the church. He enjoyed playing golf in his retirement years.

Gene is survived by his children, Clifford (Laurette) Roahrig of Kettering, Paul (Annette) Roahrig of Pataskala and Matt (Marcele) Roahrig of Hilliard; sister, Sr. Edith Roahrig of Columbus; two granddaughters and one great-grandson as well as many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Gertrude Amore, Helen Bordenkircher, Eileen Lahna and Alice Mulford.

 

Calling hours will be Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm. A Knights of Columbus service will begin at 7:45 pm on Monday. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30 am with Father Homer Blubaugh officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
