James R. Wright MSgt. USAF RET
James R. Wright MSgt. USAF RET, age 76, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 in his home. He was born on December 31, 1941 in Coshocton County to the late S. Atlee and Mary Jane (Guthrie) Wright. He graduated from Adamsville High School in June 1959. Following high school, he joined the United States Air Force on August 12, 1959, serving until his retirement on September 1, 1979. He married Linda Kay Lapp on September 1, 1963 and she traveled with him assuming the trials and tribulations of a single mother as a career military wife in the Air Force for 16 years. On June 18, 2016 Linda passed.
Upon the family returning to Coshocton, he worked at Pretty Products and Kraft Foods until being hired as the Coshocton County Veterans Service Officer in September of 1980. He continued there until becoming disabled in December of 1999.
Jim was a member of the Zanesville Seventh Day Adventist Church, lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 74, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1330, AMVETS Post 36, annual member of the American Legion Post 466 and the Military Order of the Cootie (an honorary degree of the VFW).
He is survived by his four children, Angela Carol, BSN, RNC, NNP (David, MD, FCAP) Marmaduke of Las Vegas, Nevada, Teresa Maria, MSN, RN (Michael) Darr of Kure Beach, North Carolina, Gloria Jean M. ED (Glenn BS) Cullison of Warsaw, Ohio and Major James Allen, MS, PA-C, ANG (Dana) Wright of Pleasantville, Ohio. There are seven grandchildren, Tyler Wilson, James and Christine Marmaduke, Grant and Grace Cullison, and Adam and Charlotte Cutright. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Gephart of Coshocton and a niece and nephew of Coshocton.
Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother, Gene Wright.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm at the Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Loren Seibold officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairfield Cemetery with the Coshocton County Veterans Council Honor Guard performing Military Honors.
