Jay Logan Lorenz

Together Again; Jay Logan Lorenz, 97, of Coshocton passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Signature Healthcare in Coshocton.  He was born August 17, 1921 in New Bedford, a son of the late John N. and Emma (Schweikert) Lorenz.

He grew up on the family farm in New Bedford and worked for the railroad before joining the United States Army and serving in the Pacific during World War II.  After the service he worked for General Electric for 38 years before retiring in 1985.

Jay was a talented gardener and loved to work outside taking care of his yard and garden.  He was also an avid sports fan.  He loved watching college, pro and local sports teams.

He was a lifelong member of the former St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Bedford and was currently a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Coshocton.

On July 19, 1947 he married Arleen J. Engle, She preceded him in death on January 12, 2015.

Jay is survived by his daughter, Diane (Max) Cox of Coshocton and a son, David (Linda) Lorenz of Warsaw; two grandsons, Andrew (Lori) Cox of Warsaw and Rev. Anthony Lorenz of Carlisle, PA; three great-grandchildren, Bryar, Warren, and Carolyn Cox; sister Clara Turner of Canton; three brothers, Glenn (Erma) Lorenz of Coshocton, Charles (Shirley) Lorenz of Massillon, and Paul (Sandy) Lorenz of Sugarcreek; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Jacobs, Catherine Lorenz, and Marie Anna Lorenz; three brothers Arthur, Edward, and Leroy Lorenz; and grandson Jason Cox.

Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main Street, Coshocton, Ohio 43812 on Friday October 12, 2018 from 10:00am – 11:00am with funeral services beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Bryan Kittner officiating.  Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be directed towards the Emmanuel Lutheran Church or Community Hospice; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.  An online memorial is located at www.themillerfuneralhome.com
