Jean Ann Zingg

| January 15, 2024

Jean Ann Zingg, 84, died comfortably in her Coshocton home in the early hours of Thursday, January 11, 2024. Born on October 13, 1939, to Wade Fair Zingg and Alverna Elizabeth Zingg (née Amacher), Jean was a dedicated daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her family knew her as an endlessly compassionate, outspoken, fiercely independent, terrifically humorous, and hardworking individual who never had a shortage of love to offer.

Jean was a devoted young mother, and was therefore in her forties when she earned both her Bachelor’s and her Master’s degrees in Social Work from Ohio University while working a full-time job. She served as a Habilitation Specialist for Hopewell Industries, then a Case Manager for the Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities, where she tirelessly advocated for disabled persons. Jean was a diligent public servant, and beloved by all those fortunate enough to meet her. She retired in 2009.

While it is impossible to capture her quick-witted, fiery spirit in words, she will be remembered by those who knew her as a tremendously skilled card player, a passionate and astonishingly loud Cavaliers and Browns fan, a talented chef, baker, and seamstress, an avid traveler, and a loyal, loving family member. Jean taught her descendants to be unfailingly ethical, to treat all people with dignity, and, above all else, to possess an endless well of love, which is to be shared freely.

Jean is survived by her siblings, John Wade Zingg and his wife Suzanne, and Jo Ellen Brown; her two daughters, Jeri Lee Senor and Tana Jo Ott; her four grandchildren, Joseph Sean McVey, Kenneth Aron Brechbill and his wife Kenzie, Jeani Patricia Waggoner and her husband Alex, and Olivia Wade Senor; her great-granddaughter, Jade Audrey Waggoner; her nieces, Rachel Elizabeth Bowden and her husband Tanner, and Katherine “Katie” Michelle Zingg and her fiancé Jeremy Lemieux; her great-niece, Cora Jill Bowden; and her cousin, Rex Emler.

Jean adored her friends and family every bit as much as they adored her, and her memory will be cherished.

A celebration of her life for family and friends will be held this Spring at a date to be announced. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
