JHM awards high school art winners

Best of Show was awarded to Julia Cutrina Bach.

The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is excited to announce the high school A Playground of Talent winners.

All submitted high school works were judged in three categories: 2-D pieces, 3-D pieces, and black and white pieces. They were then scored on composition, technique, and originality within those categories. The piece that scores the best overall, despite the category, is awarded best of show.

The winners are as follows: Best of Show – Julia Cutrina Bach – “Mar”; 2-Dimensional Winners – Composition first Taylor Brown – “Ice Cold,” second Jacie Aronhalt and Zaelyn Carroll – “A Taste of Italy”; Technique first Roberta Donathan – “Untitled,” second Lexsey Newell – “Infinity Shape Painting”; Originality first Marissa Ruby – “The Tree of Life,” second Lexsey Newell – “Cow Painting”; 3-Dimensional Winners – Composition first Bobbi Rahn – “The Lonely Bench,” second Kylie Roderick – “Piece of Pie”; Technique first Kate Brady – “Encanto’s Bowls,” second Bobbi Rahn – “Inside My Mind,” Originality first Natalie Ulrey – “Year 4730,” second Destiny Frye – “Surf’s Up”; Black and White
Composition first Darion Smitley – “Rocky Water,” second Sophia McFadden – “The World Is in Our Hands”; technique first Dymond Jones – “Afternoon Refresher,” second Madison Hagans – “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures”; Originality first Sophia McFadden – “Lost at Sea,” second Alejandra Anton – “Untitled.”

A Playground of Talent is sponsored by The Schooler Family Fund. The Ohio Arts Council also helped fund this event with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

The museum is open Tuesday-Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. No appointment needed. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for children, and $15 for families. The museum offers free admission for Coshocton County residents every Sunday.

The museum staff also thanks local art teachers Carissa Dickerson and Robin Hire (Ridgewood Local Schools), John Miller, Michelle Woodie, and Jennifer Young (Coshocton City Schools), Rodney Stein (River View High School), and Anne Cornell (Conesville Elementary) for helping us make this year’s show possible.
