John Edward Kreis

John Edward Kreis, age 80, of Coshocton, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 18, 1942, in Coshocton to the late Elvin “Al” and Margaret (Yingling) Kreis.

John graduated from Coshocton High School in 1960 and in 1962, he married Sandra (Burris) Kreis. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Coshocton Elks. John enjoyed camping at Seneca Lake with his family, traveling to see his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He was a friend to all and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his two brothers, Jim (Treitha) Kreis and Jeff (Kathy) Kreis; son-in-law, Matt Scholz; two grandchildren, Henry and Beatrice Scholz; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Steve Cooksey, Rick (Debbie) Burris, Jerry Burris, Mike Burris, and John Hill; and sisters-in-law, Renee ( John) Vanaman and Karen Burris.

Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra and two loving children, Lance Kreis and Mia Scholz, and sister, Cheryl Cooksey.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home with an Elks service just prior to the funeral. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bill Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
