John “Jack” Allen

John “Jack” Allen, 86, of Coshocton passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Signature Healthcare in Coshocton.  He was born in New Lexington, Ohio on May 16, 1934 to the late Cecil Allen and Audrey (Patterson) Allen-Orr.

Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean War and worked at General Electric for 29 years before retiring. He attends Conesville United Methodist Church and sang in the Barbershop Chorus in Coshocton; he loves barbershop music.  He and his wife, Maureen also enjoyed camping and together they have camped in every state except two. Jack especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their concerts, band competitions, and sporting events.

Jack is survived by his wife, Shirley “Maureen” Allen, who he married September 28, 1963; children Janet Allen-Roberts, Douglas (Terri) Allen, and Craig (Lori) Allen; step daughter Rhonda (Bruce) Kurtz; grandchildren Stephanie (Jeremy) Brennen, Derek (Jill) McInerney, Chelsea (Josh Souder) Allen, Jantzen (Katelyn) Allen, Monica (D.J.) Ingman, Madison Maureen Allen, Megan (Patrick Wagner) Allen, Tyler and Ian Hunter, Stephanie (Anthony) Johnson, Matt Ellis, Christopher, Kyle, and Michael Roberts; great grandchildren Kyler and Cooper Brennen and Mackenzie Maureen Allen; two step great grandchildren; sister Connie Smith; half siblings William Orr, Linda Harper, and Ed Orr.

Along with his parents he preceded in death by his siblings Peg Atkison, Jim and Don Allen; his stepfather William Orr; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Dick Atkinson, Gary Smith, Betty Allen, Diane Orr, Lowell Popham, Louise (Alvin) McVicker, Francis (Helen) Matchett, Bernice (Joe) Wagner, June (Ernest) Conkle, Opal (Diz) Sarbaugh, Eugene (AnnaMae) Matchett, Dale (Delores) Matchett, David (Lola) Matchett, and Clarice (Jim) Ames.

Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main Street, Coshocton, Ohio 43812 on Sunday December 20, 2020 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm and one hour prior to the funeral service.  Funeral services for Jack will be Monday at 11:00am with Pastor Jeff Calkins officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery where the Coshocton County Veterans Council will be performing military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be direct towards the Conesville United Methodist Church or Interim Hospice of Coshocton; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.  An online memorial is located at www.themillerfuneralhome.com
