John Lowell Larntz

John Lowell Larntz, 95, of Conesville, went Home to be with the love of his life on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Altercare. He was born July 29, 1927, at home on the family farm near Otsego, Ohio to the late John Kinley and Bessie Mae (McCune) Larntz.

John graduated from Otsego High School in 1945 then was in the army Troop D 15th Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron stationed in the US Zone Germany.

He attended Coshocton Business College before working at Pretty Products for 43 years, retiring in 1993. He was a 50+ year member of the Coshocton Masonic Lodge and attended Conesville United Methodist Church.

John married Dora Eileen “Dottie” Ostler on May 16, 1948, who preceded him in death on October 3, 2010. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him as he closely followed their activities. He spent hours helping them learn the alphabet, numbers, writing, coloring, and reading. He enjoyed gardening into his mid-80s, family vacations, and watching Ohio sports teams.

John is survived by his children James Michael Larntz, John Steven Larntz, Debra Jean (Ron) Miller, and Jeffrey Scott (Betty) Larntz. Grandchildren are John Robert Larntz, Tina Marie Larntz, Rebecca Sue Larntz, and Kevin Scott Larntz, and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 62 years Dottie, brothers Charles Sanford “Mose” Larntz, Challis Walter “Pete” Larntz, Francis Kinley “Red” Larntz, Kenneth Nathaniel Larntz, and infant brothers Roy and Ray Larntz, and his sisters Dorothy Mary Burkhart and Doris Mae Whitlock.

Calling hours were held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. A funeral service took place Thursday, March 2, 2023, with Pastor Peter Wolfgang officiating. Burial followed at South Lawn Cemetery.
