Joseph C. Chaney
WAKATOMIKA – Joseph C. Chaney, 90, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015 at his residence.
He was born July 2, 1925 in Coshocton Co. to the late Emmett and Elizabeth (Rine) Chaney. He was a 1944 graduate of Union High School. After high school he served as a firefighter in the U.S. Army from 1944-46. He also served as a Washington Twp. trustee for 24 years. He was a school bus driver for Union School, a Farm Bureau member, and worked as the member ship chairman for this area. He was an independent contractor, and a member of the Carpenters Union. He also worked many years in the Republican Committee. He was a farmer, and a member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church.
Joe is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gertrude (Cox) Chaney of Wakatomika, three daughters; Janet (Dave) Jackman of London, Karen (Steve) Cores of Coshocton, and Jo Ann (Dr. Jere) Butcher of Coshocton, six grandchildren; Kelly (Dave) Stone of Dublin, Stanley (Hilary) Stokes of Irving, TX, Stephanie (Jon) Snider of Coshocton, Stacie (Aaron) Ware of Clintonville, Scott (Tara) Cores of Clintonville, and John Butcher of Lexington, KY, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, and one great-grandchild.
A private burial will be held at South Lawn Cemetery in Coshocton, with graveside military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard. The public is invited to a celebration of Joe’s life on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015 at the Roscoe United Methodist Church beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is handling arrangements. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
