Joseph Robert Prosek

Joseph Robert Prosek, 87, passed away at Beckett House Healthcare in New Concord on March 21, 2023.

Joe was born in Fairpoint, Ohio on June 17, 1935 to the late Joseph and Laura (Stando) Prosek. He graduated from Ohio University in 1959, where he played football for two years, with a Bachelors Degree in Education. In August of 1961, he married Patricia Ann Fisher. Joe went on to earn a Masters Degree in Education in 1963, and a Masters in Administration in 1970 from West Virginia.

He taught and coached at Bridgeport, Cadiz, Roseville, and River View before retiring in 1995, where he was the Assistant Superintendent and Athletic Director. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing cards, and was also a member of the FairPoint Polish Club.

He is survived by his two sons, Steve (Becky) Prosek of Warsaw and Bryan (DeAnne) Prosek of Blacklick; daughter, Kelli (Rick) Merb of McDermott; grandchildren, Susan (Andy) Hendrickson, Austin, Luke, & Lucy Prosek; step-grandchildren, Heidi Aronhalt & Savanna Treasure; great grandchildren, Everleigh and Hudson; step-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Bryce, Baylee, Perry, Wyatt & Journey; and his sister, Beverly Tisko.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Pat, and brother-in-law, Carl Tisko.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 27 at Sacred Heart Church, 805 Main St. Coshocton, 43812. Fr. Tom Gardner will officiate. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery, SR 60 Warsaw. Calling hours will be from 1-4:00 Sunday afternoon at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, where a rosary service will take place at 3:45.
