June Ellen (Moore) Markley
June Ellen (Moore) Markley, age 85, of West Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. She was born on August 27, 1937 in Newcomerstown, Ohio to the late Charles and Helen (Kennedy) Moore.
June graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1955 and then married Charles Daniel “Dan” Markley on August 26, 1956. She worked for Jones Zylon/Metal for 15 years as a Secretary.
She was a life member of the West Lafayette First Baptist Church. June was very involved within the community; she was a local Historian, a 4-H Adviser, a member of Rotary, the West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, and worked as the Secretary for the West Lafayette Ridgewood Alumni Association for 50 years. She enjoyed photography, being with her family and never knew a stranger. June will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dan Markley of 66 years, her three children, Jo Ellen (Marc) Gellart of Lima, David (Darla) Markley of West Lafayette and Tim (Kelly) Markley of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Dana (Fiancé Nathan Ross) Markley, Drew (Brianne) Markley, Kendall (Hunter Lawson) Markley , and Kate Markley; one sister, Mary Shearrow of Dover and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, June is preceded in death by her son, Chuck Markley; four siblings, Robert, Clyde, and William Markley and Margene Ridgeway.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 10: 00 am at the Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Eggan officiating. Burial will followed at Fairfield Cemetery.
