Coshoctonians for Peace and Equality invites you to a free Juneteenth Celebration on the Coshocton Court Square on Saturday, June 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Juneteenth, also called Freedom Day, celebrates the emancipation of slaves in the U.S. There will be a food truck and live music from Rece Jhordan. African American community members are invited to share brief reflections on what freedom means to them during an open mic.
There also will be a ceremony of remembrance for Henry Howard, who was lynched on the court square exactly 136 years prior.
Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket.
