Keene Veterans Memorial Celebration set for May 24

| May 13, 2020

The community is invited to the 138th annual Keene Veterans Memorial Celebration on Sunday, May 24. This year’s celebration sponsored by the Keene Memorial Society will be limited to the church service with honoring of our nation’s veterans.

At 9:30 a.m., a veterans memorial church service will be held at Keene United Methodist Church. Weather permitting, this is to be a drive-in service with those attending staying in their cars and tuning into 94.7 FM on their radios. Pastor Paula Marbury will be delivering the message, “Sacrifice” to recognize all veterans.

Charles Warren of Fresno will be recognized as the 2020 Grand Marshal. He served as Private First Class in the U.S. Army from June 1953 to May 1955 when the Korean War ended. He was trained to repair motors at the Ordinance Auto School in Atlanta, Georgia, and served at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland.
