Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland CAC offers summer crisis program
COSHOCTON – The Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland Community Action Commission’s Summer Crisis Program is underway. This program will assist households with a resident age 60 and older or households that can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member’s health. Conditions can include lung disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), or asthma. Benefits may include payment toward their electric bill or assistance applied toward central air conditioning repair costs. A benefit of utility assistance of ONE payment for the current electric bill, total amount due, first PIPP Plus enrollment, utility account deposit, transfer of service, or disconnect fees. Benefit assistance is available up to $300 for customers of regulated utilities, and up to $500 for customers on un-regulated utilities. Qualifying households may also be eligible for an air conditioner and/or fan. PIPP customers are not eligible for utility assistance. Households do not have to be in disconnect status, however, those in disconnect status must receive utility assistance before additional benefits will be considered and cannot exceed total maximum allowable benefit.
Income documentation must be presented for all household members 18 or older.
Income guidelines are based at 175% of the Federal Poverty Level and are as follows:
Household size of one may earn up to $21,245, household of two $28,805, household of three $36,365, household of four $43,925, household of five $51,485 and household of six $59,045. For larger households add $7,560 per member. Income may also be calculated using the past three months, whichever benefits the client. Other documentation is also required including the household electric and gas bills so that a State HEAP application can be generated for additional benefits, proof of disability if disabled, physicians statement if a medical condition exists, co-payment documentation if the maximum benefit is not sufficient (this must be paid before application can be completed), proof of citizenship, and social security numbers for all household members.
