MOUNT VERNON – The Workforce Development Innovation Center (WDIC) at Central Ohio Technical College’s (COTC) Knox campus is hosting an open house at their Knox Manufacturing Lab on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The public is invited to preview the newly equipped lab with demonstrations and refreshments available from noon until 4 p.m. The Knox Manufacturing Lab is located in Ariel Hall at 236 S. Main St. in Mount Vernon.

“We received valuable input to best equip the Knox Manufacturing Lab in a manner that meets the training needs of our Knox manufacturing partners,” said Vicki Maple, director of the WDIC at COTC. “The lab provides state of the art equipment and flexible training space for educating both the current and the next generation of skilled labor technicians, with training stations including Metrology, Production Assembly, and Programmable Logic Controllers, just to name a few.”

While the Knox Manufacturing Lab is offered to business partners to meet their own specific workforce training needs and challenges, COTC also offers for-college-credit courses in Engineering Technology at each of the extended campuses, including Knox. These courses include: Engineering 106 (Computer Applications for Engineering Technicians), Architecture 135 (Technical Drawing), and Architecture 110 (CAD Fundamentals).
