WALHONDING – Lonnie “Forrest” Stapleton, 81, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at Wooster Community Hospital.

He was born June 16, 1936 in Elliott Co., KY to the late Jasper and Stella (Porter) Stapleton. He worked at Rockwell International for over 30 years until his retirement. He was one of 12 siblings, and he married his grade school sweetheart, often telling stories of chasing her around the playground as children. He was a member of the Coshocton Eagles Aerie #761. He loved the outdoors…hunting, fishing, and especially spending time at Esco Valley Lake. He was a hard worker, yet he also had a passion for life. He enjoyed talking about old times, how things were when he grew up, laughing, telling jokes, pitching horseshoes, and spending time with his children. He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Jean “Jeanie” (Howland) Stapleton of Walhonding, whom he married June 25, 1955; and four children, Roger (Karen) Stapleton, Rick (April) Stapleton, Randy (Tami) Stapleton, and Rhonda (Mick) Bolon.

He was grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather to Rochelle, Cassie, Devin, Leah, Shane, Kara, Mary, Glenn, Elisha, Ashley, Emilee, Mariah, Tyler, Marley, Deliaha, Tucker, Aiden, Skyler, Bentley, and Christopher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his very special mother-in-law, Stella Warnock.
